Watercolor materials The first and most important step of painting instruction is coming to know your materials. All watercolor painting lessons start with coming to know your materials and how your paints respond, which helps you exploit them to their fullest potential and to avoid any big mistakes. The NECESSARY materials -watercolor paints, -watercolor paper, - brushes -palette, - sketch pad, - masking tape/ for fixing the paper to the board, - 2 water containers/ use 2 if possible, one for rinsing your brush a one for clean water for painting - kitchen cloths/ for cleaning the brushes, -paper towel/ for lifting the paint, -hair dryer, - inspirational background music/ water sounds, classical music, instrumental music INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOR PAINTS Watercolor paints are available in in two different forms, tubes and pans. Tubes come in different sizes, regular, and large. Always be sure to screw the caps back on after use to prevent the paint from drying out. If you like to paint often I would recommend you large tubes, because they might be cost effective. Pans can be bought both half and full sizes. When color is used up, you can easily replace it with a new one. ADVISE FOR BEGINNERS-After a working session always clean the mixed up/mudded colors with a clean wet brush. Repeat the cleaning several times. This can also be a preventive step, after you finish with your painting. IMPORTANT TO KNOW-WATERCOLOR PRODUCTS BEARING ACMI SEAL AND AP SEAL ARE CERTIFIED NON-TOXIC. -Suggesting Watercolor Paints- For beginner and advanced artists, I suggest Winsor and Newton Professional Watercolor tubes-Winsor blue-Winsor Yellow-Winsor Red. PRIMARY COLORS The fundamental color principle is that there are 3 colors that CAN NOT be made by mixing any other colors together.Those 3 primary colors are-YELLOW -RED -BLUE 2. SECONDARY COLORS- The secondary colors are created by mixing 2 primary colors.For example,if you mix blue with red color you will create purple color.But if you mix blue with yellow color,the result will be green color.The proportions of used primary colors will effect the hue of the created secondary color. 3. NEUTRAL COLORS- The neutral colors are black and white,and as the primary colors they can not be made of mixing any other colors.They are exluded from the color theory,because they can not be used to create a new color.White color reduces brightness when you add it to another color,and removes the colors vibrancy,aldough it makes a color lighter. 4.WARM AND COOL COLORS Red and yellow are warm colors,they remind of sun,fire,and blue is cold color.But there are different tones and intensity of these colors,so those color variations can be warm or cold. 5. First type- COLD PRESSED WATERCOLOR PAPER This type of paper is highly recommended for beginners.This is the best paper for all exercises and demonstrations.It has a rough texture comparing to hot-pressed paper. If you try to glide your brush over this type of paper some of the paint will settle on it while skipping the indentations of the grainy texture and leaving them blank.This helps you create a beautifully textured brushstroke ,perfect for representing all water, oceans. Never live your brushes to stay in the water container for too long. It will damage the wood and deform the brushes hair.It can permanently affect the functionality and shape of the brush.   Description -UNDERSTANDING COLOR THEORY- COLOR – ABOUT COLOR THEORY Color is the concept referring to certain impression of the physical characteristics of light visible to human eye coming from particular source or reflecting from the surface of a matter. Color also refers to dusty particles or pigments capable of giving color to a surface. Color could have various properties: chromatic characteristics, tones and contrast. Chromatic color properties may be divided according their aspects to chromatic and achromatic properties. Chromatic are all those colors inside the sun light spectrum and they may be divided into primary, secondary and tertiary colors. Primary colors are red, blue and yellow and they can be mixed together to produce secondary colors. Secondary colors are got when two primary colors are mixed in the same proportion. Finally, there are also tertiary colors which can be got by mixing together primary and secondary colors in different proportions. Secondary colors are produced by mixing blue and red (violet), blue and yellow (green) or red and yellow (orange) color. Tone properties of colors involve adding achromatic colors (white or black) to some other colors creating tonality of color. Tonality is the amount of light in a color. Thus, white or black color mixed with some chromatic color may be used to obtain brighter or darker tonality changing the perception of chromatic color. Achromatic tones are result of mixing achromatic colors producing the grey color. Bright chromatic tones are produced by adding white to pure color, while dark chromatic tones are produced by adding black to color that is pure. Finally, blur chromatic tones may be obtained by adding grey into pure color. Degradation of color is phenomenon associated with tonal value of color. Any pure color has coloristic luminosity, intensity and lightness. Those values may be reduced by adding black or white color. 1. PRIMARY COLORS The fundamental color principle is that there are 3 colors that CAN NOT be made by mixing any other colors together.Those 3 primary colors are -YELLOW -RED -BLUE 2. SECONDARY COLORS The secondary colors are created by mixing 2 primary colors.For example,if you mix blue with red color you will create purple color.But if you mix blue with yellow color,the result will be green color.The proportions of used primary colors will effect the hue of the created secondary color. 3. NEUTRAL COLORS The neutral colors are black and white,and as the primary colors they can not be made of mixing any other colors.They are exluded from the color theory,because they can not be used to create a new color.White color reduces brightness when you add it to another color,and removes the colors vibrancy,aldough it makes a color lighter. 4.WARM AND COOL COLORS Red and yellow are warm colors,they remind of sun,fire,and blue is cold color.But there are different tones and intensity of these colors,so those color variations can be warm or cold. 5. OPPOSITE COLORS In the color spectrum there are also oposite colors,for example,yellow is opposite to violet,green is opposite to red,orange is opposite to blue,etc.We shall see this in the next video demonstration. 6.GRADATION OF COLORS CREATES DEPTH - Creating depth in a painting is easy to do using graded colors. 7.Create a color reference chart Paint a color chart where you will record which two colors you mixed and include the approximate proportions of each color.This will provide you a ready reference and help you before you get to the stage when you intuitively know what color will you get. Follow the shape that I am creating for the tree top, as well as space that I leave intentionally blank in the top of the three, because there should be placed tree branches. Randomly I add green and yellow-green color turning to the second and then to third level of the tree top. While the color is still wet I am putting green-blue mixture letting colors to mix together making soft edges. Furthermore, I use round brush for the edges of the tree top. I am also painting restless leaves floating on a wind outside heavy tree top. My favorite part of every tree is trunk. Using light brown we paint the tree trunk and small branches spreading through the tree top and out of it. We try to obtain the natural look. I am also using painting knife for the Scratching technique in order to obtain effects of tree bark. Finally, I put little green color for the soil because tree must be rooted in the ground. Try to exercise to paint trees, tree trunk and leaves on as many ways as you can! As you can see, branches closer to the trunk are thicker becoming thinner and thinner as they spread apart from the tree trunk. Lose yourself in art!

  Description Motivation – Today is not an ordinary day. Today I am going to create something beautiful. – Painting a Japanese cherry blossom tree In this video we will show the process of painting a Japanese cherry blossom tree. We should use the Splattering technique to depict the richly top of this tree. Besides that, I prepare the paper carved in the middle in the shape of the tree top. Thus, we will protect the rest of the painting not encompassed by the tree top. At the same time we will direct all the color drops to the tree top. We start with the bright pink color which is shown on the smaller piece of paper. Then I will splatter bright rose color over this bright one. After that, I will put medium pink tone between bright and dark pink color. This carved paper shaped like top tree will be moved in two directions to achieve the tree top looks more realistic and more natural. We will repeat the process of putting the colors in layers. Keep in mind that the process of absorbing should be finished before removal of the paper because otherwise the paper could become smudged. When we remove the paper we will put some violet color using the round brush in order to create illusion of the shadow inside tree top. At the whole surface of the tree top we will put this violet tone. Then, we should turn to the tree trunk and branches of the tree which is my favorite part. We will draw several branches using the blue-brown mixture in order to obtain almost black color. Also, we draw branches at the right side of the tree. We make effort to determine the position of branches and then we make them thicker and increase their number creating thinner brunches. After that, we must draw a straight and broken line above the tree as a core that keeps left and right side of the branches together. Look carefully how I draw the branches at the right side because I will do the same with the left side of the tree. However, it is not necessary to show this in details in this video. My wish was to add some moss on this beautiful and rich tree. However, before all that, it is necessary to create tree bark using the Scratching technique. Then we will add dark tones of color. While I am creating moss, I will put several drops of clean water on the left side of the tree trunk. I will use paper towel for lifting of color, so I put bright green creating the moss on the tree trunk. Finally, we could add some fallen leaves below the tree in bright and light pink color. Again I will place the paper shaped like the tree top over the painting and put more layers of color covering the branches. This was a wonderful exercise! Thank you for watching!

  DescriptionMotivation – Today is not an ordinary day. Today I am going to create something beautiful. – Apples and pears In this video we will show how to paint fruits. In the first part of the video we will paint two pears, and in the second part we will deal with an apple and a pear. The pears have set in different positions. One pear is standing upright, while other is laid down. The upright pear will be colored in yellow, orange, dark-red and brown color. In case of the other pear, yellow and ochre color will prevail, as well as dark-brown color. We will splatter ochre color using the splattering technique in order to obtain more natural look of the pear. Firstly, we use Wet on dry technique and later we will drop color on wet color. In the second part of the video we will paint an apple using brighter and darker tones of red. Certain parts of the apple will be left white so that we could have natural apple shine. We will also add dark brown color. For the pear we will use light and dark green color. Here, I am applying Splattering technique with ochre color. Furthermore, I will add little brown color. At the end of this video I will give you color palette I used on the painting.
