If we take a first look at a score without any previous knowledge, it will seem like a strange language and we will have no idea where to start. But don't worry, if we analyze it in the right way and with patience, reading a score will be much easier than it seems.

In this course, the student is expected to master the initial position of the notes, with a series of activities to ensure memorization, as well as chords and songs that will serve as a route to help you develop your skills. Finally, you will gradually be provided with teaching materials that include activities that will strengthen your finger strength, agility and independence.

Chapter 3: Elementary chords

  DescriptionWhen you feel that you are able to recognize the notes of each hand, it is time to start with the chords that make use of both hands. The lesson consists of learning the initial position of the hands, when you start playing with both hands at the same time. Elementary chords are used, the objective of which is that the student practices and masters the use of both hands, while acquiring independence. The use of the metronome is recommended at this level, to acquire rhythm and speed little by little.

  DescriptionIn this lesson the student will focus on studying and practicing activities that aim to improve strength, agility and independence with the fingers, as well as playing two keys at the same time. To accomplish this, the student is asked to perform the following routine. First, watch the video in its entirety, focusing on the activities explained in it. When finished, repeat the same activities for a few weeks, until you feel it is necessary. When you are going to start practicing the piano, it is recommended to do the activities for 10 minutes, to warm up your hands, and avoid damaging them. Second, to make good use of Schmitt's book, it is recommended to do one activity sheet per week, with the idea of completing the book in about a year. Third and last, as for Bela Bartok's book, it is recommended to do a minimum of 2 sheets per week, to ensure a mastery and independence in both hands in an affordable period of time.
